Q. How do I become a member of Bender’s Gym?

A. Becoming a member is easy! Anyone interested in joining can come by any of our facilities during staffed hours; 8am to 8pm Monday thru Thursday, 9:00am to 5:30pm Friday, and Saturday 9am to 1pm. Because we are a 24/7, secured access facility our doors do remain locked at all times, so please just call ahead or knock and our staff member will let you into the facility to fill out your paperwork and liability waivers. Once you provide payment, your fingerprint is scanned into our system and you can immediately begin using any of our facilities.

Q. What is the minimum period of time that I can purchase a membership for?

A. There are a variety of different membership plans available. A monthly EFT is available for 12 month, 24 month, and cancel at any time (30 days notice required) memberships. 12 month memberships may also be paid in full. All memberships require a valid ID at the time of sign up.

A. Because of our security system this is difficult to do, however, potential members may download a Free One Day Pass to be used during staffed hours from our Home Page. Tours are also given during staffed hours. Attempting to enter the facility when we are not staffed is considered breaking and entering.

Q. Do you provide any membership discounts or special rates?

A. Bender’s Gyms are among the only facilities in the area to offer extreme cleanliness, state of the art equipment including flat screen televisions on all cardio equipment, outstanding group fitness programs including Les Mills programs, unlimited tanning and secured 24/7 access. We believe in the quality of our facilities and in treating all of our members fairly and equitably. Therefore, we do not negotiate on our membership rates and fees. There are no hidden fees; everything is included in our price. Senior Discounts are available. Please contact any of our facilities to get more information on membership fees.

Q. Does my place of employment have a corporate agreement with Bender’s Gym?

A. Please contact any of our facilities to check if your specific employer has purchased a wellness plan at our facilities. If you are an employer and would like more information about corporate rates/agreement, please give us a call.

Q. What forms of payment do you accept?

A. We accept cash, check, and credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express).

Q. Who is included with a family membership?

A. A family consists of a spouse and/or their children. Children between the ages of 13-19 are allowed to use the facility and are included with their parents’ membership. Children in college between the ages of 18-23 are included at no extra charge with a valid college id. Children under the age of 13 must wait in a child waiting area that we provide and are not allowed on the workout floor, in the group fitness room, or in the tanning bed rooms, and must be supervised when using the restrooms.

Q. How do I gain access to the facility when you are not staffed?

A. We are staffed 8:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday thru Thursday, 9am to 3pm Friday and 10am to 2pm Saturdays. Our door remains locked at all times, and members must access the facility by entering an access code then placing their finger on a fingerprint recognition pad.

Q. Can I bring a guest with me to workout?

A. Yes, members may bring a guest to any Bender’s Gym facility for a nominal daily charge. Guests must be at least 13 years of age, and must complete a guest envelope and insert the guest fee CASH ONLY (per guest/per workout) immediately upon entering the facility. Our cameras are reviewed daily to assure the facility remains secure and that all members and guest are abiding by our requirements.

Q. Will I need to bring a lock for a locker?

A. Yes. Please bring your own lock to secure your personal belongings. Lockers are available for daily use only and the gym will remove locks left on a locker for more than 24 hours.

Q. Could you tell me about your security system and how safe it is for members to enter the facility at night?

A. We have 16 cameras located inside and outside the facility and our parking lot has plenty of lighting. The only people inside the gym are those that have scanned their fingerprints or entered as a guest of a member. With our state of the art security system, we know who enters the facility and what time they enter.

Q. Is the gym crowded and what times of the day are the most crowded?

A. The facility is large and open making it ideal for large numbers of people to workout without over crowding. We are the fullest during the before and after workday hours. Currently members do not have to wait for equipment even during our busiest hours. We have a large amount of equipment and plenty of room to add more as the need arises.

Q. Are there just a bunch of young, skinny people working out at your gym?

A. Our members range in age from 13 all the way up to our more mature, senior members. We accommodate people of different sizes, fitness levels, and physical challenges. Our staff, instructors, and members are all very respectful of everyone’s differences. The environment of our gym is welcoming, supportive and friendly, and our members and guests find it hard to feel out of place.

Q. Are your members mostly men?

A. It is physically impossible for women to gain large amounts of muscle unless they have a hormone imbalance or are taking illegal supplements. We believe all women should lift weights for a variety of reasons. Research has shown that regular resistance training can increase your Basal Metabolic Rate by up to 15% making you burn more calories. Strong muscles, tendons and ligaments are much more capable of withstanding stress, and the improved flexibility gained by strength training also reduces the likelihood of pulled muscles and back pain. Resistance exercise can reduce bone deterioration and build bone mass, preventing osteoporosis. Working your muscles can also inhibit the affects of sarcopenia, the age related loss of muscle mass, strength and function. After the age of thirty there is a loss of 3-5% of muscle mass per decade, making day to day tasks gradually harder to perform and slowing down metabolism – increasing the risk of weight gain.

Q. I’ve never worked out before. How will I know where to start?

A. At Bender’s Gym we want you to succeed. We offer 2 personal training sessions with every new membership at all of our locations. During these sessions members work with a certified trainer who uses an in house software program customized to your specific needs and goals. Our trainers show you how to use equipment correctly, give you a plan that includes a personal assessment, cardio, strength training, stretching, and nutritional advice. Our staff is extremely friendly and helpful and wants you to ASK QUESTIONS! Additional personal training sessions are available at affordable prices. Group personal training sessions will also be available soon at all locations. We are dedicated fitness enthusiasts and hope to share our love of fitness and provide motivation. Your success is our success!

Q. When people sweat and workout there are germs. What do you do to keep your facility clean?

A. We are very committed to keeping our facility extremely clean and maintaining our equipment. Our staff members clean and check equipment all throughout the day. Upon joining the gym, each member agrees to wipe down the equipment they’ve used and we provide antibacterial spray bottles and paper towels for them to do so. All members must spray tanning beds after using and are welcome to spray them before using them. A variety of cleaners are used, including bleach, to make sure all germs, bacteria, and fungus are kept in check and eliminated.

Q. I have some friends and family that I would like to refer for membership. Do you offer any referral bonuses or incentives

A. Since member referrals are our best source for new members, we do at times offer a referral reward. Please check with the Staff or Facility Manager for more information.

Q. How do I sign up for Group Fitness Classes and do they cost extra?

A. All of our Group Fitness Classes are included in each membership and are taught by nationally certified and trained Group Fitness Instructors. We offer a wide variety of classes including Les Mills BODYPUMP, BODYSTEP, and BODYFLOW, as well as time efficient Express classes and freestyle formats. The schedules are posted and available on our website, and all a member needs to do is just show up to the classes they want to participate in. At certain times of the year some of our classes become quite full, so be sure to arrive to classes early! During special events, we my require that members sign up in advance to take a class, however this is communicated well in advance of that special event date

Q. What if I have a problem with my membership, access, or billing, etc?

A. Our staff and Facility Managers are fully trained and able to assist you with any questions you may have. Please contact the facility office at the location you visit most often. Our facilities have a club phone available for emergency purposes only. While we do not prohibit cell phone use in our facilities AT THIS TIME, we do expect that members will be respectful of the other members and guests in our facilities by keeping cell phone use to a minimum and when in use, speak quietly. Anyone using a cell phone with camera capabilities in an inappropriate fashion will immediately be denied access to any of our facilities. This may include, but is not limited to, using the camera to take pictures of members or the facility without permission.
